AIS supported two CMU-Africa teams at the FemSTEM Africa 2025 Pitch Competition, SafeSpeak placed 3rd overall, securing a $500 prize and seeding a new partnership with Africa Health Collaborative.
What happened
On June 23-24, 2025, AIS supported CMU-Africa students at the FemSTEM Africa 2025 Pitch Competition, the culmination of a women-in-healthcare innovation series hosted by the African Leadership University and the Health Innovation Hub (H2i), supported by the Mastercard Foundation and Sustineri Attorneys PRUC.
AIS-supported projects
- MamaMind, a postpartum mental-health platform for new mothers
- SafeSpeak, an anonymous digital mental-wellness tool for women
The win
SafeSpeak placed 3rd overall, earning a $500 cash prize and recognition for AIS members as emerging healthtech innovators.
What it unlocked
The competition seeded a strategic relationship with the Africa Health Collaborative, opening pathways for further venture support and research collaboration around the SafeSpeak and MamaMind projects.
